    About Tainan

     

    Tainan is the oldest city in Taiwan. With its time-honor 300-year history, the city is well woven into the fabric of rich culture and interesting anecdotes. Details hidden inside the corners of streets, they yield the footprints left behind by ancestors as well as those precious, little stories being passed down generation by generation.
    There are also many important heritage sites in Tainan. Due to traditional architectures and the surroundings around being revived and renovated, local art, industrial activities, and sightseeing are hence enhanced accordingly. Historic streets and old houses, on the other hand, are life reflection of all different eras, carrying and preserving memories and spaces of ordinaries Taiwanese people.

    ● Climate

     

    The climate is tropical in Tainan City. In winter, there is much less rainfall in Tainan City than in summer. In Tainan City, the average annual temperature is 23.9 °C. The rainfall here averages 1823 mm.

     

    ● Currency

     

    The unit of currency is the New Taiwan Dollar (NT$).
    NT$ has five denominations in paper money, which comes in NT$2000, NT$1000, NT$500, NT$200, and NT$100.
    Coins come in NT$50, NT$20, NT$10, NT$5 and NT$1 denominations.

    Foreign currencies can be exchanged at government-designated banks and hotels. Please save the receipts given.

     

    ● Electricity

     

    Taiwan uses electric current of 110 volts at 60 cycles.


    ● Visa Information

     

    Tourist visas for the Taiwan can be obtained from Taiwan (ROC) embassies, consulates, or designated representative offices in foreign countries. Citizens of the following countries (please refer to the Visa-Exempt Entry link) are allowed visa-free entry to Taiwan at any of its major international ports and harbors.
